About us The Norwegian Climbing Federation was formed in 1992. Our members are national climbing clubs, which in 2008 numbers 176. Totally combined membership for all clubs is about 11.500. Althogether there are about 40.000 climbers in Norway, indoor and outdoor. The parliament, which is held biannually, took place in Oslo April 19-20 2008. The next one will he held in spring 2010.
Our Agenda The federation perform a number of tasks and services of great value to climbers and mountaineers. These include, but are by no means limited to, the following:
- raising awareness about safety, accident investigation and reporting
- education of leaders and coaches, mainly for the clubs
- coordination of national climbing competitions
- management of a national team for international competitions
- representative for access and environmental issues pertaining to our sport when carried out outdoors
- encourage and assist with the creation of indoor climbing gyms
- focus on children and youngsters
- focus on women
- climbing for disabled
- 'wall card' - a card for indoor safety, a basic safety and ability test used by indoor climbing gyms
- information through internet
